All alone, Teddy roamed Muuido (pron: moo-ee-do) Island, Incheon, for about a month.
Teddy was initially rescued from a slaughterhouse in Byeollae, Namyangju City, by individual activists. He stayed in two temporary shelters for about a year and a half while awaiting his adoption, during which he escaped three times.
This latest escape occurred when Teddy’s foster parents took him to Muuido Island, where he managed to get free of his leash and run off. We received a request to help find him, and this little Houdini was finally recaptured on the eighth attempt!
Some question why we only engage in rescues that become highly publicized, but this is a misconception. Because we prioritize rescuing animals in need of immediate help, some of them tend to be more publicized than others. However, as with Teddy’s recapture, which was hardly known to anyone, we are always looking out for animals in need of aid.
There are many more rescues that aren’t well-known enough to hold fundraisers for. For these rescues, often it is through our activists’ personal expenses that the animals are cared for.
Please continue to support our activists. They are the ones on the frontline of the rescues, and without them, we wouldn’t have been, and won’t be, able to save even half of the animals crying out for help.
We would also like to commend the patience of Teddy’s caretakers, who are helping him overcome the trauma of a life at a slaughterhouse. We hope that one day he learns to trust people enough to stay in one place, and doesn’t need to be recaptured again!
