“Please help. There’s a dog that is being transported in the back of a flatbed truck and its head is bleeding very badly. The dog looks like it’s going to die!”
We received a report that a dog was tied up in the back of a flatbed truck with injuries to its head. We suspected that it was on its way to be slaughtered and eaten. The truck was travelling through Buyeo County in South Chungcheong province, about 180kms from Seoul.
We dropped what we were doing and got in touch with the informant and the police, and managed to stop the truck and rescue the dog.
Although Sanny—that was what we named him—had been beaten almost to death by humans, he wasn’t aggressive towards the people who tried to help him. He even gave us his paw to show his affection.
We managed to send him to America with the help of the Dove Project, and in February, we were invited to visit Sanny in his new life with his new family and friends.
We weren’t sure if he would remember us, but when we saw him, he was lying in his owner’s bed with his cat friends. He shyly extended his paw towards us when he saw us approaching.
Sanny now has a new life free from abuse with his new mom and dad, another dog and cats, and is being loved.
