The Cheonan dog slaughterer who burned dogs alive has filed criminal charges and a civil suit of 35,000,000 KRW (~$30,000 US) against CARE.

The Cheonan dog slaughterer who burned dogs alive has filed criminal charges and a civil suit of 35,000,000 KRW (~$30,000 US) against CARE.

Earlier this month, we filed suit against the against the man who had been slaughtering dogs for 20 years by burning them alive.

When we entered the site on the morning of July 21st, the man was arrested in the act of burning two dogs, and signed documents giving up his ownership of all the dogs and the facilities in which they were kept. But he changed his attitude soon afterwards, and sent us a notification that he had given up his rights to the care of the dogs to the City of Cheonan, not to CARE, and that he would press criminal charges against CARE for further entering of his residence.

In addition, he filed criminal lawsuits against six of CARE’s activists for several items that are hard to understand, such as illegal arrest, violence, breaking and entering, and stealing. He has also hired a lawyer and filed a civil lawsuit against CARE for damages amounting to 35,000,000 KRW (~$30,000 US.)

We have since been informed that certain other animal rights activists, who have been trying to undermine CARE’s activities in a systematic and ongoing manner, have been advising the slaughterer ever since his case came to light. The complaint we received from him showed traces of certain activists’ cooperation.

We and volunteers saved approximately 80 dogs from the slaughterer, and they are being cared for at several veterinarians, shelters, and temporary homes. Some of them are on their way to being adopted by overseas families, while others have already been adopted.

We will never compromise with animal abusers, and will strive to see this man receive the most severe legal punishment for the burning alive of over 30,000 dogs. In the meantime, we have to defend ourselves against these lawsuits and respond to the charges made, on top of our own suit against the dog slaughterer.

If you can help us with our legal defense and lawsuit to punish the slaughterer, please consider becoming a regular supporter, so that we can make sure these, and all future abused and tortured dogs, can receive justice.
